The LIGNICOAT project team recently participated in the “Anticipatory LCA to Promote Informed Decision-Making” workshop, hosted by the SuperBark and BIORING projects. This online event, held on December 4, 2024, focused on leveraging Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for sustainable bio-based product development.
Arditec Association, our partner responsible for LCA, presented the main challenges faced during the LIGNICOAT project. These included data collection complexities for novel bio-based products and assumptions required when scaling from lab to industrial applications.
The presentation outlined insights for ongoing EU-funded projects. It emphasized the importance of using LCA results to guide informed decision-making and improve sustainability practices.
Although the LIGNICOAT project concluded in November, its findings remain valuable. The insights shared during this workshop can be utilized by other EU-funded initiatives to enhance sustainable practices in the bio-based industry.
This event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, helping to accelerate the development of sustainable bio-coatings and other bio-based materials.
