CBE JU Celebrates Three Years of Driving Green Growth: A Milestone for Sustainable Innovation

As the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) marks its third anniversary on November 30, 2024, we at LIGNICOAT are proud to be part of this journey towards a more sustainable and competitive European bioeconomy. As a CBE JU-funded project, LIGNICOAT is contributing to the development of innovative, sustainable coatings derived from lignin resins and bio-additives, aligning with CBE JU’s mission to reduce reliance on petrochemicals and promote a circular bio-based economy.

Achievements and Impact

Over the past three years, CBE JU has made significant steps in strengthening Europe’s bioeconomy:

  • Market Innovation: More than 36 novel bio-based products have been introduced to the market, spanning sectors from food ingredients to sustainable plastics and green chemicals.
  • Industrial Scale-up: CBE JU has funded four industrial-scale biorefineries and 44 demonstration plants, accelerating the transition to bio-based solutions.
  • SME Support: One-third of CBE JU beneficiaries are small and medium-sized enterprises, fostering innovation at all levels
  • Circular Processes: Numerous projects are focusing on resource efficiency, low-emission technologies, and waste reduction, driving circularity across industries.
