LIGNICOAT Showcases Innovation at Biobased Coatings Europe 2024

The LIGNICOAT project was presented at the Biobased Coatings Europe 2024 conference held in Valencia, Spain. The event, a hub for industry leaders and innovators in the biobased coatings sector, took place from June 5th to 6th and featured a variety of sessions focusing on the latest advancements and research in the field.

Roel Vleeschouwers, Business Development Manager at VITO, represented the LIGNICOAT project with a compelling presentation titled “Bioaromatic Based Materials from Lignin for Industrial Coatings with High Performance.” His talk was part of session five, “Further Research into Alternative Coating Chemistries: Part 2,” which occurred on Thursday, June 6th.

In his presentation, Vleeschouwers highlighted the innovative use of lignin-derived bio-aromatics in the development of high-performance industrial coatings. He emphasized the advantages of lignin-based chemistries, including epoxies, acrylates, and polyurethanes, which offer enhanced functional performance. This cutting-edge research and its practical applications have the potential to update the coatings industry by providing sustainable and efficient alternatives to traditional materials.

VITO’s presentation underscored the project’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, inspiring the over 450 attendees present at the conference.
