LIGNICOAT Presents at ExpandFibre Final Seminar Event

On August 19, 2024, LIGNICOAT proudly participated in the ExpandFibre Final Seminar, a hybrid event held at Metsä Group HQ in Tapiola, Espoo. The seminar celebrated the achievements and collaborations of the ExpandFibre Programmes and Ecosystem over the past four years.

The event saw a robust turnout, with 100 participants attending on-site and an additional 50-100 joining online. Representing LIGNICOAT was Dr. Michele Ponzelli from AXIA Innovation GmbH, the Dissemination and Exploitation partner, who provided a comprehensive overview of the LIGNICOAT project. This presentation highlighted the our approach to developing sustainable coatings based on lignin resins and bio-additives.

LIGNICOAT’s participation and presentation at this final seminar event underlines our commitment to contributing to the ExpandFibre ecosystem, which comes after the recent LIGNICOAT inclusion into the ExpandFibre ecosystem.

The seminar underscored the importance of collaboration within the ExpandFibre ecosystem, highlighting how joint efforts can lead to significant advancements in the bioeconomy. Presentations and discussions emphasized the critical role of sustainable practices and the development of bio-based products in reducing reliance on fossil-based materials. The event provided insights into future projects and initiatives within the ExpandFibre ecosystem, setting the stage for continued innovation and growth in the field of sustainable bioproducts.

As the ExpandFibre program concludes, a transition phase will occur in 2024-2025. Certain activities will continue during this period, such as disseminating information about new and ending ecosystem projects, hosting the ExpandFibre online platform, and organizing the annual ecosystem seminar in autumn 2025. However, some activities will be interrupted, including accepting new organization members, ExpandFibre webinars and other theme-related events, and funding from Business Finland for the ExpandFibre roadmap.
